Elevated Travel By Essie
I grew up in a small town in Maryland and often felt the pull to get beyond its borders. Thankfully, my mother was a true traveler at heart—road trips to Baltimore, Philadelphia, Richmond, and New York were simply part of life. I fell in love with the rhythm of the city: the grid of the streets, subway trains rushing in and out, buses arriving and departing. That steady, electric beat made me feel truly alive—and it sparked a lifelong curiosity to explore our planet, near and far.
My early adventures were mostly domestic, and then I discovered cruising. I loved the idea of unpacking once and waking up to a brand-new destination each morning. Most of my cruises were in the Caribbean, and few experiences feel as freeing as sinking your toes into soft white sand and wading into crystal-clear water that stretches to the horizon. The sea shifts from bright teal to deep navy—an endless reminder of how breathtaking the world can be.
After cruising, I set my sights on international travel—and my first major trip took me to Egypt and Ghana. It was truly off the charts. In Egypt, seeing the pyramids from my hotel window was already awe-inspiring, but stepping inside a pyramid and climbing all the way up was the kind of experience that stays with you forever—equal parts humbling and thrilling (and yes, definitely a reminder that I could always be in better shape!). It was unforgettable, and I’m grateful I got to experience it firsthand.
Ghana was an unexpected blessing—especially because I visited in 2019 during “The Year of Return”. It was a powerful blend of history, celebration, and reflection. There was so much to absorb, and the experience was both exciting and grounding. We returned home inspired and changed. The Ghanaian people were warm, welcoming, and generous—and the shared meals (especially the jollof rice!) were a highlight all their own.
That blend of learning and vacation is what ultimately inspired me to become a travel consultant. I love helping others experience that same sense of wonder—whether it’s the ease and joy of a cruise, the excitement of an international itinerary, or the magic of discovering a place you’ve only ever dreamed about. I bring firsthand experience, thoughtful planning, and a passion for meaningful travel to every journey I help create.
